How Many Tiles Do I Need?

Calculate the project surface area and divide it by the face area of one tile. The calculator then adds the selected cutting allowance and converts the result into full boxes.

Tile Calculation Formula

Tile Count = Surface Area ÷ Tile Area

Because cuts and breakage are common, a waste allowance is added before determining the final purchase quantity.

How Much Tile Waste Should I Add?

Simple straight layouts typically create less waste. Diagonal patterns, herringbone, borders and irregular rooms can require more material.

A 10 ft by 8 ft floor contains 80 ft².

A 12 in by 12 in tile covers approximately 1 ft².

With 10% waste, the project requires approximately 88 tiles. If a box contains 12 tiles, you would need 8 boxes.
